Just when you thought you have approached the time of year to enjoy your garden and balconies, it rains. Not very often that happens, but for the last few weeks, we’ve all been looking out of our dirty windows to see how the clouds are looking. Will it rain again? Will I be ok driving down the Sheikh Zayed Road to visit my friends in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah? Will the roads in Jumeirah, Umm Suqueim, Arabian Ranches or the Jumeirah Golf Estates be ok? Will the lakes around Jumeirah Island and the Meadows overflow?
The weather has been unpredictable recently and this looks to have calmed down now, which means we all need to clean our buildings, pathways, windows, and roofs.
The UAE has conducted 10 cloud seeding sessions in the last 2 weeks. This is not mother nature acting alone. The sessions start at around 5 or 6 pm as there were clouds moving towards the country.
The National Centre of Meteorology warned of the unstable weather conditions. But can we really prepare for this level of rain? I was driving through Jebal Ali and the Dubai Investment Park and you could see the rain-affected many buildings and roads, creating leaks and even flooding.
